Summer is here!

2–3 minutes

On the last day of school, there is a deep sense of accomplishment and anticipation for the excitement of summer ahead for us all. Students have cleaned out their lockers, cubbies and backpacks; often finding long-lost items and crumpled up graded work, sparking reflection on the months they’ve spent learning & growing. They’ve spent their last days signing yearbooks, asking one another to “stay in touch”. We feel the same – it has been a very busy 2025-2026 school year for all of us and we hope you’ll stay connected with us this summer!

Within the district, we’ve seen the end of the era of the Four for Forest Hills as the community elected three new board members, Jeff Nye, Erin Walczewski and Jeremy Ward. We observed a change in administrators, too – with the resignation of  Superintendent, Larry Hook and the hiring of Suzanna Davis; change it seems, is inevitable.

The change over from school to summer often feels like a relief – a welcome break from the structure of school.  We hope that all are able to take some time to relax and find time to sit by a cool body of water, have backyard barbecues with friends, and celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation.

We also ask that during this time – families and friends of the stay connected with us and our community partners that help us track legislation, propose bills in the statehouse, and educate Ohio voters. Honesty for Ohio Education, Public Education Partners, Vouchers Hurt Ohio all know that the battle for fair funding and efforts to enact legislation that impacts student outcomes do not pause. Our effort to ensure this community has relevant, factual information regarding the issues and challenges facing our district and all public schools in Ohio continues – and we hope that this summer, you’ll stay connected to us, our partners, and the elected officials that support and defend public schools (Our representative is Rachel Baker, our State Senator is Bill Blessing, both strong advocates for fair funding and supporters of public schools.)

As we transition from the last day of school to the first day of summer, we embrace both the joy of a well-earned break and the ongoing commitment to our community’s future. This season of change reminds us that while summer brings relaxation and celebration, our dedication to supporting public education remains unwavering. We encourage everyone to enjoy the warmth and freedom of summer while staying engaged with the important work ahead. Together, by staying informed and connected, we can continue to advocate for fair funding and strong schools, ensuring a bright future for all students in our district and beyond.
